In an email seen by Daily Mail Australia, she detailed her drinking problems – including receiving professional treatment to overcome her addiction after spending more than $ 5,000 on the service in just four months.

At the height of her addiction at the start of the Sydney lockdown, the woman was using the service up to three times a day.

Jimmy Brings was given the woman’s home address, phone number, and account details, as he was told never to accept further future orders.

A spokesperson for Endeavor Group, owner of Jimmy Brings as well as BWS and Dan Murphy’s outlets, said at the time that the group was seeking to “exceed” its compliance obligations.

The woman, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told Daily Mail Australia that she had repeatedly asked the company from June to stop contacting her.

“It’s hard to resist,” she said.

“I have used the service several times a day and every 8th order is free so if they don’t hear from you they will call and email you … even though you have self- excluded.”

The ‘self-exclusion’ process is recognized by the brand and a spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia that any unfulfilled request can be reported to industry body Retail Drinks Australia.

“To date, no complaints from Jimmy Brings have been registered regarding non-compliance with self-exclusion requirements,” said the spokesperson.

Liquor and Gaming NSW had previously examined the man’s death in June 2018, but told the Sydney Morning Herald it was reopening the investigation after analysis of Jimmy Brings’ sales data showed that orders for the man had grown considerably in the fortnight before his death.

The 49-year-old’s order included bottles of wine and spirits delivered almost daily, including two identical orders 10 minutes apart.

The man is believed to have spent around $ 24,000 with the service in the three years before his death on nearly 300 orders.

The investigation will determine whether the service, which promises to deliver alcohol to homes within 30 minutes, may have violated responsible alcohol service rules.

More than 3,000 New South Wales businesses are now licensed online, with many bottle shops and smaller places allowed to deliver to homes during Covid shutdowns.

New rules came into effect last July and addressed concerns about the use of online delivery services by minors and intoxicated people who might not be served if they drank in a licensed location.

The rules make it an offense to sell packaged alcohol to a minor or an intoxicated person, punishable by fines of up to $ 11,000.
