A variety of new dining options have recently opened near campus. Both franchises and small businesses, these restaurants offer new cuisine for students to try this fall.

University stores

University Shoppes Square, located on the Colonel Glenn Highway across from WSU’s main campus, offers members of the university community a variety of dining options.

Recently, Crazy King Burrito opened its second US location in the plaza. Started by Mexican natives, Jamie and Haidee Gonzalez, the burrito offers a variety of traditional Mexican dishes and burritos.

Crazy King also offers a 10% discount to Wright One cardholders.

Kung Fu Tea, a global bubble tea brand, also recently opened a franchise in the square. The beverage shop offers fun bubble tea concessions and toppings like Kirby’s Fruity Flurry, named after the popular video game character.

Kung Fu also offers a 10% discount on the Wright One Card.

Fairfield Commons

Third Perk Coffeehouse and Wine Bar, a local Dayton business, will expand to a new location in the Fairfield Commons food court.

Miguel Espinoza, owner of Miguel’s Tacos in Yellow Springs, has opened a second location, Miguel’s Poké Island, in Yellow Springs.

The shop allows customers to design their own poke bowls and sushi burritos, as well as order a variety of other products like smoothies, acai bowls, and teas. The restaurant opened on July 14.

Downtown Dayton

Dayton’s first food hall, West Social Tap & Table, will open July 25 at 1100 W. Third St. The lobby will feature six independent food vendors and a bar.

Vendors offer a range of flavors, including De’Lish, Grind House Coffee Co., ILLYS Fire Pizza, The Lumpia Queen, SOCA and Taco Street Co.

Located in the historic Wright-Dunbar neighborhood in downtown Dayton, the food hall is a collaborative project led by the Dillin Corporation and is part of the Opportunity Zone investment project. The room will help small businesses reach a wider audience and drive traffic to the area.
