Two national name stores have announced the opening dates for their new stores in Grimsby.
The first is Poundland as contractors put the finishing touches on its new store in Grimsby as it prepares to move to Freshney Place and play its part in the regeneration of the town. It opens this Saturday June 11 while Shoe Zone will also open at Freshney Place on June 17.
Poundland staff have been planning their move for several weeks and are delighted to take over the former New Look store on Victoria Street. They will open the doors on Saturday at 9 a.m.
At over 12,000 square feet, it is larger than a typical Poundland store and has been designed to offer the widest possible product range and to provide customers with an exceptional shopping experience. It will employ 23 full-time and part-time colleagues, as will the store it replaces at 1-7 Victoria Street.

It made way for the planned multimillion-dollar development of the western entrance to Freshney Place which will include a new food court and multi-screen cinema. The investment in the new Poundland store marks a vote of confidence in Grimsby and a commitment to the town center as it undergoes redevelopment.
The Freshney Place site was previously occupied by New Look which closed in January. The arrival of Poundland means shoppers will always have a leading clothing retailer to turn to for the store’s PEP&CO clothing for the whole family. After a period of remarkable growth, the PEP&CO brand has become one of the top 20 clothing retailers in the UK by volume in just seven years since its launch, the owners claim.
In addition to clothing for women, men and children, it will also have a dedicated PEP&CO Home department showcasing the latest 2022 ranges, including kitchen storage options, faux plants, bathroom accessories and fabrics. furnishing.
It will also join the growing number of Poundland stores, which are expected to exceed 350 this year, to sell chilled and frozen food. Customers will also see the low prices they’ve come to expect across all categories, including food and drink, home and pets, entertainment and stationery.

ShoeZone will open Friday, June 17 at the former JD Sports store in Freshney Place. The popular brand has committed to placing the 4,000 square foot double-sided unit in a prime mall location. JD Sports moved to a larger location at Freshney Place. ShoeZone will now move into the empty sports store, located between Greggs and O2.
The new store will carry popular brands such as Lotus, Heavenly Feet, Jana Softline and S’Oliver. In addition to these, you can expect to see the store’s own brand shoes and accessories. Kelvin Grant was named store manager.
Open Monday to Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., the Grimsby store will provide the community with affordable footwear for all ages in the new concept store.
