Mass Frankfurt is hosting an online educational event on July 7 to help retailers keep up to date with the latest trends between the start of its Ambiente, Christmasworld and Creativeworld markets in February 2023 following event cancellations in 2022.

From 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., the event will feature sessions in English and German around “Future Retail” and will include discussions with industry experts on the metaverse, sustainability and omnichannel.

The program of the event is as follows:

  • 4-4:30 p.m. – Keynote Retail 2022: Transformation and Repositioning with Stefan Genth, CEO of Handelsverband Deutschland
  • 4:30-5 p.m. – Hype or future? Metaverse & Web3 for commerce and brands with
    Stefan Wenzel, Advisor to the Board of Directors
  • 5-5:30 p.m. – Buy better and make it last: the sustainable megatrend and its impact
    on Retail with Stefan Nilsson, Trendstefan Trend Expert and journalist
  • 5:30-6:00 p.m. – Omnichannel is “the new normal:” Insights from the Google
    Omnichannel Excellence Study 2022 with Judith Büchl, Head of Industry for Google Germany Integrated Retail

Keynote speaker Genth will begin his keynote with a discussion of current developments in the retail industry, then dive into a focus on challenges to new perspectives. He will also discuss new consumer behaviors and the tension between city centers and online platforms. Marilyn Repp from the German Retail Association will also moderate a panel of four industry experts to discuss the future of retail during this session.

Following Genth’s presentation, Wenzel will discuss the new technology topics in retail that come with the Metaverse and Web3, giving a compact overview of the Metaverse, NFTs (non-fungible tokens), and blockchain to help categorize each and their goals for retailers and brands. Next, trend expert and journalist Nilsson will discuss the “megatrend” of sustainability from a retail perspective, including what sustainability is, what helps save valuable resources, and what parts of sustainability are currently in fashion.

Google’s Büchl will present the Google Omnichannel Excellence Study 2022 and explain what makes for a good customer experience, which retailers are already omnichannel pioneers, and what is needed for a seamless shopping experience.

The Ambiente, Christmasworld and Creativeworld in-person shows will be held simultaneously at the Frankfurt Messe, with Ambiente and Chritmasworld taking place February 3-7 and Cretiveworld February 4-7.
